Le Mont Dore is a well equipped winter sports resort on the mountian range called Puy Du Sancy originally developed in the 18th century as a spa resort where poeple would come to take local cures for rheumatism and respiratory ailments in the thermal spas.

In the 1930's it became France's very first ski resort to include a cable car and electrical funicular.

Today the resort offers quality skiing for all ages and at all levels and disciplines on this lovely mountain!

Le Mont Dore is linked to its sister resort of Super Besse and provides almost 100km of downhill pistes that are well prepared and groomed. In addition there is considered by some to be amongst some of the best off piste skiing in France.

The resort has 26 km of Crosscountry (Nordic) skiing trails and pistes with links to Sancy west which has a further 250 km availible.

For snowboarding there are snow parks in both Le Mont Dore and Super Besse downhill areas.

There are areas for Sledging/Tobogganing, Tubbing and Skating.

Snow shoe walking there are hundreds of kilometers of marked trails which makes it a great way to enjoy this beautiful area.

You can also take a Husky sleigh ride through the local countryside or maybe try Ice climbing.

Down in the town other facilities include an Ice Skating rink a Bowling alley (10 pin), Casino, Cinema and a Disco.There are 4 Banks with cash machines lots of shops and a good selection of Bars and restaurants for that all important apres ski.
